A 12-year-old girl was transported to Chilton Hospital Friday afternoon after a diving accident at Lake Rickabear, in Kinnelon.

Kinnelon police Det. Sgt. David Crouthamel said they responded at 2:38 p.m. and found that lifeguards had already stabilized the girl, whose name was not released. She was transported to Chilton Hospital by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad.

Police said the girl was swimming underwater near a dock when a diver went into the water, unaware that she was beneath. The girl was struck and complained of neck pain, Crouthamel said.

Lifeguards responded and put the girl on a baseboard to stabilize her spine, Crouthamel said. When police responded, Crouthamel said the girl was in good condition and had feeling in her body.
