Another Bank Robbery by a Man in Cowboy Hat, Prosecutor Says
FBI and Morris County agencies investigating robbery of Boiling Springs Savings Bank Thursday.
Authorities have released a description of the man believed to have robbed a Lincoln Park bank Thursday afternoon.
The bank, Boiling Springs Savings Bank, is located at 60 Beaver Brook Road. The prosecutor's office said the robbery happened around 2:09 p.m.
The man is described by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office as a white male in his 20s or 30s between 6-foot and 6-foot-2 tall. He was described as wearing a straw cowboy hat, olive green blazer, white dress shirt, dark-colored pants and black Nike shoes. Authorities also said he was wearing eyeglasses and may be operating a black two-door vehicle.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and multiple Morris County law enforcement agencies are investigating Thursday's bank robbery. According to messages sent by Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi's office on Twitter, the joint investigation is being handled by the prosecutor's office's Major Crimes Unit, Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Section, the Lincoln Park Police Department, and the FBI.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday's robbery may be connected to other bank robberies this month, including the robbery of another Lincoln Park bank, Capital One Bank, on Comly Road, on Aug. 10. In that incident, the prosecutor's office said a white male in his early 30s was also wearing a straw cowboy hat and a green blazer when he allegedly robbed the bank. Authorities said he did not show a weapon during the robbery.
The prosecutor's office said a well-dressed alleged bank robber was also being sought for his involvement in a Parsippany bank robbery and another in Mount Olive, both in July.
