This is not about Republican or Democrat, it is about who will do the most for us, our town and our children. The clear choice is Mike Sondermeyer and Rich Dellaripa!

Really? I thought you had to be a resident in order to run for council?

All of the candidates are Bloomingdale residents Karen!! I believe the republican candidates are concerned with the whole of Bloomingdale not just special interests. That is what we need.

The one Republican candidate only moved here after she lost running in Butler maybe 2 years ago. She wouldn't be my first choice to ask to run for council!!

Gary, I believe the Democrats are also for the whole of Bloomingdale, as well as our children. I am a registered Republican and usually tend to sway that way. However, I do not vote for the party, but rather the person. I watch debates, go to council meetings in town, etc. I do not know/have not heard anything about Michele Siek, so unfortunately I cannot vote for someone without having to hear them speak on his/her issues. Unlike Jo-Ann Pituch, who I've personally witnessed her rude & nasty demeanor at council meetings.

One of the main reasons, I will not being voting Republican in town this November, and it is mainly due to the fact that the Republicans voted down the Pilot program. I don't understand why they feel that the Pilot Program will not work to help reduce our deficit. I feel they are more upset that Avalon Bay is getting a discount on their taxes (and we aren't), rather than looking at the bigger picture and seeing how much money this will contribute to paying off our debt. When Dunleavy asked Conklin what his plan was for tax relief, he replied "I have no plan or vision for our town." Is this who I want helping to run our town, someone who has no vision for it?! When a resident asked him again to clarify thinking the Councilman misspoke, he said he has NO plan for our Borough. Then Dunleavy asked Pituch, what her plan was and why she was voting NO, she would not answer his question. How does she expect to get my vote this November without answering what I feel is a very important question?

I have had the pleasure of serving with Mike Sondermeyer as a Recreation Commissioner for several years. He has proven to be a dedicated volunteer and an excellent Rec Commission President. He is consistently open-minded & fair. He has demonstrated to me on many occasions that he is the right type of man for this job, a great listener who is genuinely interested in the views of others as well as a level- headed, pragmatic guy who backs up what he says with hard work.
As for Rich Dellaripa, he has served our Board of Education for many years, and I have also been impressed with his ability to understand complex issues and deal calmly and effectively in his role as an elected official. As the Board of Education's liason to the Board of Recreation, I can also attest to his level of commitment to his responsibilities. He is the first liason from the Board of Education I have seen at a recreation meeting in my ten year tenure, and since he began in the role 2 years ago, has been at nearly all of them, in addition to his significant responsibilities directly with the BOE. So without a doubt, both of these gentlemen will be getting my vote. I just hope we find someone up to filling the large shoes they will leave on our other local boards and commissions.

I have never heard of Siek; she is apparently relatively new to the town, having moved here after losing her election in Butler. But I have seen up close and personal how rude and negative Ms. Pituch is and how low she has brought the Council meetings. I cringe when she speaks. We deserve better. I believe that Dellaripa has not missed Council meetings in addition to the Board of Education. He seems thoughtful, caring, polite and committed to the well-being of this town. Sondermeyer is another good choice--a dedicated resident.

Dellaripa is a lose cannon. When he is disagreed with he get very angry and is extremely rude. Just like at the council meeting when the police has to tell him to sit down and be quiet.

Gary, you are just plain wrong. The other two candidates couldnt hold Rich's coffee! I have to be honest here, your comment was the absolute FIRST time since I have been here in Bloomingdale that I have heard ANYONE have something negative to say about Rich. Loose cannon? I know that is what you would want anyone to believe with the election coming up and all, but your comments make you look ridiculous.

Good for him! I think he was probably provoked by the goings on. I applaud him for not allowing them to get away with it.

I'm sure the way some of these meetings have gone ANYONE could become angry. Dellaripa has been our neighbor for many, many years. He has always been very community-minded and can be seen volunteering at most of our events. His record on the Board of Education is excellent. He has always been a real gentleman, so I'm sure if he became angry at a Council meeting he had a good reason or he was mightily provoked. Can't say that I'd blame him and I do intend to vote for him and Sondermeyer.

Bloomingdale has such potential to be one of the most desirable towns in our area with our awesome location and natural resources such as the river and Norvin Green State Forest. We need our council to work together for the good of the town. Rich Dellaripa and Mike Sondermeyer have already proven that they care about Bloomingdale and want to make a difference by their involvement in Bloomingdale Rec and Board Of Education. I have yet to hear a plan from the other side on what their plan is for Bloomingdale. We need Mike and Rich to make some progress and fulfill our potential as a prosperous small town.

Shortman, Pituch and Conklin all walked out of the council meeting, just because the PILOT program was brought up?! This is because, they have nothing to say to defend themselves on why they all voted it down. This is just another reason to vote for the Democrats. Shame on you Shortman, Pituch and Conklin, you shouldn't even have the honor of seating on that council anymore!

No Karen not just because the Pilot program was brought up but because, as the audience stated, because Jon and Yazdi badgered LS. They are disgraceful. Jon and Yazdi have nothing to say for themselves, they are bullies. No wonder Jon wanted to have that film here it is he. Jon, and Yazdi shame on you, you should not even have the honor of seating on that council anymore. Their behavior is unacceptable. This is ANOTHER REASON to VOTE REPUBLICAN. You cannot have a council that just says ok so that they will not be attacked. You need people who are willing to stand up to abuse for you.

Linda, I personally could not attend tonight's meeting, because my husband was working. However, a friend of mine did, who was an undecided vote going into tonight's meeting. He didn't feel that Jon or Ray were badgering or bullying anyone. He said they were just asking questions. I will tell you after tonight's meeting, he was shocked and is now voting Democrat.

I think what we see going on here, is that these council members have already determined that they are done here and this is them, trying to give everyone a black eye on the way out. It really is the same thing as "Jumping the shark"! After something like this, they truly become un-electable in most of the people's eyes, even other republicans would not elect them again after this latest episode.

Yazdi and Dunleavy were asking the questions that the public wants answered namely: if you're voting "no" on this, then why? Just give a reason. And don't state "the Board of Education", because that's been debunked. And don't state the" County", either, because that too has been debunked. If the Mayor and Yazdi didn't ask the questions then someone else in the public would. And then would the Council members walk out? No. Discussion has to be allowed. We're not a third world, after all, are we? It's inexcusable that Council members walked out and irresponsible to leave town business unattended. They are, as the comment above states, "un-electable".

Think about it - it still goes back to when a former Republican council woman was having hissie fits because the public wanted answers to questions they had - she tried to put a gag order on the public but was unsuccessful - while she is no longer representing bloomingdale (thank god) she still continues to pull the "puppets" strings - November 6th can't get here soon enough. Bloomingdale will not stand for their childish games anymore - anybody drive thru town lately??? Look at all of the "blue" out there and the very little "red" the writing is all over the town - it's down with the Republican puppets and go for the Democrats All the Way!!! But remember it's WHO IS GOING TO GET THE JOB DONE WHO HAS A VISION FOR OUR COMMUNITY WHO WE NEED TO HAVE IN OFFICE TO BRING BACK OUR BLOOMINGDALE THAT WE ALL WANT!

level headed no one put a gag order on anyone. It was a time limit so that business could be conducted. As you see business is not being conducted now because the mayor is out of control. He is not getting his way so he causes havoc. Sad day for Bloomingdale, even sadder if dem control council

If I lost by a landslide I would do a little soul-searching (that goes for either side) and try to understand where I went wrong. What can be seen on the video is that there is indeed badgering--but the badgering comes from two audience members--Linda Huntley and the old woman sitting next to her. They both yell with a lot of anger. They can claim badgering all they want, but people do have the video for a reality check. I thought the Mayor was amazingly patient and kind with the white haired lady and I think the talking point "badgering" that they latched onto was a simple case of classic projection (projecting onto others what you yourself are doing). The one thing they I did NOT see was a Mayor being "out of control". That accusation seems, again, to be projection. What's sad is not WHO controls, but that those in control are not capable of having a discussion and must name call or walk out. That's what's sad! Voters- attend the meeting tonight & see for yourself.

My favorite signs are the illegal ones that do not say who paid for them! Don't these people realize there are very stiff penalties for not disclosing such information?
