Bulldogs to Wrestle in Tri-Meet Saturday

A list of nearby activities for you and your family.

 

The Bulldogs are hitting the mats this weekend as they host a wrestling tri-meet at Butler High School. They will be facing Dover and Cedar Grove (see details below).

Sports are not your thing? We've got plenty more events for you to check out in this week's Get Out. Here's what's happening:

Butler High School Wrestling Tri-Meet
When/Where: Saturday at 10 a.m. at Butler High School.
Why Go: To cheer on the Bulldogs as they face Cedar Grove and Dover. 
Cost: Free 

Ancient Ireland Storytelling
When/Where: Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Kinnelon Public Library.
Why Go: Because the official name of this event is "The Shannachie of Glendunbunn Ballybegg: David Maccaffrey" and that is just an unbelieveable tongue-twister. Also, to listen to embellished versions of ancient stories of Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Scotland.
Cost: Free, but sign-ups are needed. Call the library at 973-838-1321 to reserve your spot.

Zumba
When/Where:
Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Recreation Center.
Why Go:
To shake your tailfeather, and burn calories while doing it.
Cost:
$10 for drop-in students.

Comedian Bobby Collins
When/Where: Friday at 8 p.m. at Mayo Performing Arts Center, Morristown
Why Go: You want a little more funny in your life.
Cost: $37-$57

Buffalo Project band at Hennessey's
When/Where: Saturday at 9 p.m. at Hennessey's Washington Bar, Morristown
Why Go: You want to hear a live band performing covers from the 70s to today while enjoying a beer or three.
Cost: No cover

Reading of MLK's "Letters from a Birmingham Jail"
When/Where: Sunday at 9:15 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown's Parish House.
Why Go: You want to hear the words of the Civil Rights leader as they were written by the man himself.
Cost: Free

Rose City Steppers annual “Kick-off” walk/breakfast
When/Where: Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Madison Civic Center
Why Go: Free coffee, juice, bagels and fruit, and Mary Finckenor, Registered Dietitian from Morristown Medical Center, will facilitate an interactive nutrition game with the walking group.
Cost: Free

Dragon Tales Pajama Party
When/Where: Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts
Why Go: Kids can relax in your PJs, make some dragon crafts and meet dragon puppet "Hermione" as she recites some of her favorite dragon stories.
Cost: $3 admission per participant and regular admission for all others.

Mad Science: Frosty Meets the Mad Scientist
When/Where: Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Madison Public Library 
Why Go: Find out what happens when dry ice meets snow, and more during the Mad Science presentation.
Cost: Free

The Writers Circle Speakers Series
When/Where: Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sages Pages
Why Go: Learn how a comic book is made from longtime DC and Marvel Comics artist Mark McKenna.
Cost: $25

"Damn Yankees"
When/Where: Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Raritan Valley Community College.
Why Go: To see a great play about baseball in the midst of football and basketball season. And did we mention the play won many awards when it was on Broadway?
Cost: $37 and $47, depending on seat locations

YMCA Open House
When/Where: Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Somerset Valley YMCA in Somerville
Why Go: To get information about the summer camp programs offered and meet the staff through the YMCA in Bridgewater, Hillsborough and Somerville. 
Cost: Free
