Bloomingdale police are investigating several cases of apparent car break-ins in which the contents of glove compartments and center consoles were "strewn about" cars, some items stolen, according to police.
Cash, jewelry, electronics and paperwork were among the items reported on Sunday and Monday to be stolen from cars, Ptl. Dan Fletcher said. Police believe the apparent thefts happened either late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning.
Fletcher said residents from the following roads reported a person or persons had entered their vehicles (see map): Hilltop Terrace, Oak Street, Hillcrest Drive, Hillside Drive, Knolls Road, Charles Street and Rafkind Road.
"It appears as though there was no sign of forced entry and that all the vehicles may have been unlocked," Fletcher said in a report.
Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact the Bloomingdale Police Department at 973-838-0158.

Drug use drives these events. A barber killed, stabbing and now recent car break ins/theft are a sign of problems that have a negative effect on the town.
Call police and keep pressure on to ensure these incident stop. Strange activity of any kind deserves a call so that the police can investigate each incident. If you don't call it will be left to be read about in the press continually.

Maybe this is why my dogs are barking late at nite...I'm on Leary. I have seen and reported a person on a white bicycle looking in cars at Food World over the summer but the person wasn't caught, I still see him around.

There are 2 guys who live in an apt. across the street from the Quick Check above a Mexican resturant who ride a bike all over. They might be worth checking out.
