Chris Christie: The New Boss?

Governor hailed as hero following Sandy, says he's 'more ready' to consider presidential run.

Gov. Chris Christie has been considered by some legislators and constituents to be somewhat of a hero for his response and leadership following Superstorm Sandy. But now that the storm has passed, the governor is looking toward the future and a potential run for presidency, according to a Time magazine article, "The Boss," about the state's leader.

As Republicans look to place a strong candidate in the 2016 presidential election, Christie may be their choice. But state Democratic leaders said there is much the governor has still not delivered on during his tenure.

Despite rumors that he was planning to run for president in 2012, Christie publicly announced several times over that he did not have intentions to run. Now months later, after seeing the state through one of the biggest storms in New Jersey's history, Christie said he is more ready than the last time he was asked.

Obama was a community activist before he went to DC. He worked as a lawyer, but cannot even do that anymore because his law license became inactive in 2007. In contrast Christie served as the chief federal law enforcement officer in New Jersey before becoming governor.
Secondly, a governor has more leadership experience than a Senator. A governor runs a state, a senator passes laws.
Christie has absolutely more work experience than Obama had when he became president.
Let's face it, Obama's campaign was a referendum against the Bush administration! Micky Mouse would have won the presidency if he was a Democrat.
I hope Christie runs in 4 years. He's got my vote. I just "pray" that he remains a "Pure Republican" and doesn't get hijacked by the "Christian Jihadis" in the Mid West and South.

On Violence Control? Christie took a pass!

Stile: Christie’s strategy on gun control is to wait
By CHARLES STILE
The former federal prosecutor, who once hunted down out-of-state gun traffickers, had a chance to make a blunt, compelling case for tighter gun laws last week. But Governor Christie took a pass.

wonder if Mr Stile ever applied for an NJ FID Card let alone a hand gun permit. if he did he would tell you that NJ laws are the most draconian in the republic. He wont tell you that we already have fingerprinting twice, once for the card and again for the permit, character references, State and local police back round checks, mental health affidavits and record searches, extremely long waiting periods etc etc. Everyone knows that Mr Stile and his bosses at the Bergen Record loath the fact that there is a second amendment on one hand but cant bring themselves to recite the oath of citizenship on the other.

I hope our wonderful Governor runs for President in 2016. He is a decisive, powerful leader who has the guts to say no to special interests, committed to fiscal responsibility, crosses the aisle when appropriate, and LEADS.

I do hope, whether he runs for President or not, that he begins to take better care of his health. Obesity puts a person at risk, especially with the stress of the nation's highest office. I believe when Mr. Christie starts to aggressively manage his health, he is serious about wanting the nomination for 2016.

Christie is big (no pun intend) in Jersey, but he won’t fly in the big cities, or the Bible Belt.

Get a grip on reality and open your eyes. Christie bobbles, dances, and ducks the issues. He only made a CONDITIONAL NO on setting up the Obama Health Exchange. I wonder why? Could it be because he is holding his final say just in case he needs to switch to get a YES on the VERY BLOATED Sandy 60 billion plus bail out? Sat on the Foreclosure Bill until the last second. Wastes our money on SOLAR and Wind which should NOT be done as it is unproven science. We do not need costly Experiments in this economy. Nice too that his brother is heavily into SOLAR.
He also is going to FORCE Shared Services on municipalities by penalizing those that choose not to adopt his divine plan, by withholding funds from them. He is another BIG GOVERNMENT guy who is power hungry and aspires to a higher throne at the cost of the taxpayers. He also pushes Regionalism, which is a Soviet state model.
Think about what he is Doing rather than what he Says he is doing. He is not our guy.

Christie has shown by his veto of marriage equality that he is only in office to serve the religious right. Hopefully, he will never be president. No one voted to allow him to marry his wife. No one voted to allow him to claim his son as his own. However, he expects to hold a vote on the same for many families in this state. I will be very happy when he is kicked to the curb.

Nick, I see that you believe Christie to just be just another politician that panders to the voters he believes will get him elected. Do you believe that President Obama allowed young illegal aliens avoid deportation on principle or because he was courting the Hispanic vote? Do you believe that the president is only in office to serve the Hispanic population? I don't pretend to know what anyone's thoughts or core principles are but I am willing to cut Christie some slack. While I am not overly religious, I have difficulty in changing my definition of marriage. I do believe however that any couple, gay or straight, should have all the rights afforded those offered married couples. I don't know how I would react to being denied access to my partner in a hospital intensive care unit. That is why I feel we should all work to enforce the civil union laws and prosecute anyone that does not provide these rights.
If you feel you are denied rights afforded "married couples" then it is your right to fight for those and if Christie feels those rights are already provided by law and that the traditional label called "Marriage" needs to stay, that is his right. The people of New Jersey will agree or disagree with him and factor that into their decision on who to vote for in November.

Nick

3:44 pm on Friday, January 25, 2013

Separate but equal has only ever worked out for those on the slightly more equal side. I would be as fine with civil unions across the board as I am with marriage across the board. The problem is that people understand and respect what a marriage is while civil unions are currently considered second-class designations for second-class relationships. After all, how could the love between two men or two women ever equal that of a man and a woman?

Just Facts, So let me get this right. You would like to see Christie sign a millionaires tax (on someone making $250K per year or more). I am a strong believer in unintended consequences.
I believe that such a tax increase would only accelerate the already growing flight of high wage earners from New Jersey. Statistics have shown that the highest earners in the state are leaving for states like Florida or North Carolina that have no or lower personal income tax. Recently California passed a millionaires income tax rate of 13%. This is above the Federal income Tax.
The pro golfer, Phil Nickelson, just caught flack for announcing that he was leaving for Florida and taking his $50 million income with him. I would rather get 3% of something ($1,500,000 in the case of Phil) than 13% of nothing ($0).
And when your high wage earners leave business follows. Corporations don't like to open new facilities in States that highly tax their upper level (high wage) employees.
In my case, while I wish I was in the high income wage group, I am the representative for a California based manufacturer and responsible for covering the Northeastern US and Canada. This allows me to live in my home State of New Jersey. But, if my income grows and I see more of a push to tax me more to pay for everyone else's benefits I will gladly move to Maine or another State that has a lower cost of living. And when I go i will take my job with me.

Yo Art... You seemed to skip over all the other annoying things about the Governor... Maybe he could raise it to 300K ?? Make an adjustment?? The fact that he VETOED it shows where he is coming from and his special interests....I understand there has been a need for cuts - but his arrogance and bullying is unessesary and disgraceful!! And your Example of Phil Mnickleson - his net worth is over 150 Million dollars..... so I'm sure he is really worried about paying a few more tax dollars.... My point being the really rich should pay more!! I pay alot of taxes and I understand that this great country survives on Taxes!!! and TAXES pay for my freedom and way of life. Chrispy is a big mouth bully - and his policies have driven NJ unemployment even higher.. He tells union workers that they have to give more...give in a little and he has the nuts to take free helicopter rides to baseball games? Just Facts, I chose to answer what appeared to be your primary objection which concerned the Governors veto of increased taxes on "millionaires". I had hoped for debate on whether high income wage earners pay too much, or not enough in NJ State Income Taxes. And the realistic and sometimes unanticipated effects of taxing any segment of our population to a point where they simply pack up and leave.
I chose not to debate your other points because of your tendency to belittle those you disagree with. Personally, I am overweight "FAT as you would label me" and have fought to change that. I don't believe my being FAT has an effect on my intelligence, work ethic, morals, principles, or skills. But you choose to define Governor Christie that way with the implication that it reflects his abilities.
What you call Christie's bullying can be viewed by others as just being honest.
People have a tendency to hear what they want to hear. Most politicians believe telling us what we want to hear is the only way to stay in office. Christie tells you what he thinks whether you agree with him or not. Churchill, Roosevelt, Lincoln, and other great leaders throughout history had the same ability. And many times they were criticized by their contemporaries for being blunt.
I chose to treat the views of others with respect, whether I agree or not, and would hope that others would respect mine without resorting to name calling or trying to prove their position by belittling me.

He is an egotistical fat cat millionaire. His main objective is to protect his millions and his millionaire friends and special interest groups. Unemployment in NJ is the highest it has been in over 50 Years!! My taxes are still going UP!! He really has accomplished O for the middle class people of NJ.. BUT HE HAS PROTECTED THE MOST RICH AND WEALTHY OF THE STATE. So I guess it depends on your financial standing - He is a Politician for the RICH, and I guess if you are settled in and secure, you would love this guy. I find him rude , crude, and obnoxious - There really is no reason to speak to people like he does. If I spoke to people like he does at his work I would certainly lose my job. He will fall hard. On top of the $17 billion bill, Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) offered another amendment that added $33.7 billion to the aid package. That measure passed 228-192, with 20 Republicans from unaffected areas voting for it. As Human Events notes, the Frelinghuysen amendment was loaded with superfluous spending, including “$500 million for weather forecasting and to help create an ocean zoning plan–the later one of Obama’s pet projects. Also included are $10 million for FBI salaries $2 billion for road construction across the country, as well as funding for the Head Start program, roof repairs at the Smithsonian, and $150 million for fisheries across the country.”

The third piece of the relief package involved a $9 billion bill passed earlier this month for the National Flood Insurance Program.

Don't worry about, we can print as much money as we want. There are no consequences, just party it up, everything will be fine. (I am packing my bags as I speak)

Although Christie established himself as a genuine caring person after Sandy, and hammered his own party over their stalling on aid, for president I want to see a more nationally tuned-in candidate. To me, that person is Hillary Clinton. She can enough spleen to bang heads with the big boys and has demonstrated enough character in national and international level politics.

SockPuppet,
Let me just say that Obama could not have done it if the Bush administration did not start the hunt. And my friend Osama/Obama did not get him the Great Navy Seals did. This bum in our White House should be Impeached as fast as they can get him on something and they will. My friend do you think for one moment their are not people trying to bring this Socialist/Communist down. That is why Christie needs to stay away from him as what is to come may hurt Chris real bad career wise.

You're so right, Robert, in fact, the Obama administration could not have done it if the Cheney administration had paid attention to their own daily briefing on August 6, 2001 stating, "Bin Laden determined to strike in U.S.". But, hey, we can't go back in time. Christie doesn't seem to be suffering in the polls from his association with the President, but then maybe they didn't poll cranks. (Also, it's spelled *there*, you're welcome.)

Do we compare 9/11 to Benghazi? Not unless we're, you know, insane/working at Fox.

Christie will be the next Mitt Romney. I am sick of Neo-Conservatives preaching a big government philosophy and upholding the welfare-warfare state.
I really like Christie for Governor of NJ and I'll definitely vote for him THIS November as I did in 2009. But no way for President. The Weekly Standard crowd had their day and it was a spectacular failure in 2012.
I'll vote for Rand Paul if he's the GOP nominee, or I'll vote for the Libertarian candidate, or I just won't vote in 2016.

SockPuppet, lets be real the Bum and Ms. Clinton are lying like a rug. Can you tell me that the man now has not over stepped his bounds. And thank God , Oh I forgot I cannot say what I want as you are a Muslim from Kenya and don't have a birth certificate. Or Obama, why are we now giving guns to Mila and to other jihardists around the world. Maybe because you are a Muslim and not and American and have underlinning idea's. SockPuppet why has food stamps gone up since he has been in office and why are companies now hiring part time workers instead of full time. Thats because of Osamacare. Now me the natural born American has to pay for the bums sitting on Welfare, food stamps, free medical and I am up at 4:30 am every morning going to my job. . He is the worst so-called president I have seen in many years and I been here since Truman.

SockPuppet, just and FYI Fox news tells it the way it is as I watch Diane Sawyer and the liberal media only brushes on what is really going on. The other liberal channels are just puppets for the WHITE HOUSE.

So Christie rips the Republicans for the Sandy Bill delay but doesn't rip the Menendez and Lautenberg for not votiing on the bill until yesterday and his new BFF Obammy still hasn't signed it.....let's call out his hyprocrisy! And that of our Dem Senators who have put immigration and gun control ahead of Sandy votes!
