Credit Card Stolen by Kinnelon Resident's Roommate, Cops Say
Purchases of more than $1,500 were made with the card in the tri-boro area and Wayne.
A Kinnelon man was charged with credit card fraud and theft by deception on Friday after police said an investigation revealed he had stolen and used the credit card of his roommate.
Police said the credit card was reported stolen on Feb. 5 around 3:30 p.m. The owner came into the police station and said that he had paid off the balance of his Citi card on November 10, 2012, but that he had received information indicating $1,569.29 had been charged on the card. Police found that the charges were made throughout the tri-boro and in Wayne, Schwartz said.
"Detectives were able to secure video of the suspect making several of the charges," Schwartz said.
Police also determined that Suppel lives with the credit card owner.
