Domestic Violence Response Team Seeks Volunteers

Group will help survivors of domestic violence and abuse.

The Borough of Bloomingdale is teaming up with the surrounding communities of Ringwood and Wanaque to form a Domestic Violence Response Team.

The group, according to Bloomingdale Police Ptl. Dan Fletcher, will help survivors of domestic violence by providing support and information.

Fletcher said volunteers are needed to join the team and assist in its mission. Volunteers will be asked to complete a 40-hour training session on Monday and Wednesday nights beginning in March in Hawthorne. The training program is eight weeks long.

Training will be conducted by the Passaic County Women's Center.

"If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of domestic abuse survivors and if you are caring, compassionate, motivated and empathetic, please consider volunteering your time and energy for this worthwhile cause," Fletcher said.

Volunteers must be 21 years old and have a valid driver's license, but no prior experience is necessary. Those interested should call Theresa Bivaletz, Domestic Violence Response Team coordinator, at 973-881-0725 ext. 206 or email dvrtpcwc@njaconline.org
