Vic Ahlefeld to be remembered by family members, friends.

A memorial and mass will be held in honor of Vic Ahlefeld, of Kinnelon, Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Magnificat Chapel in Kinnelon.

Ahlefeld passed away in Florida on April 3.

Ahlefeld is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia, and loving daughters Margaret Stouffer, Karen Crines, son-in-law James, devoted son Victor and daughter-in-law Katharine. He leaves six grandchildren Kaitlin, Sean, Ian, Shane, Greta and Victor Patrick.

Ahlefeld was a 42-year “life” member of Tri-Boro First Aid Squad. A Gold Cross Ceremony at the Chapel will be conducted by the squad.

I had the honor of dispatching Vic from the Butler Borough Telecommunications Center for many the 42 years he responded. My wife Dee responded with him on countless calls during the years since 1977 and then I had the privilege of being his driver many times since 2000. I don't know of anyone who ever said anything bad about Vic Ahlefeld. Our sympathies and condolences go out to his wife Pat, daughters and son and the entire family but we should be thanking them for sharing Vic with all of us.

I believe the date is wrong in this article. I believe it was April 3 that Vic passed away.

On another note, Vic was a great guy. He was always happy and smiling, no matter who he was around. I learned a lot from him in the four years that we were on the squad together and appreciate everything he did teach me. I truly will miss taking calls with him and hearing the stories about calls he had been on in the past.

D Morse is correct. Vic passed away on April 3 not April 27.

BTW, Vic's service to our communities goes back more than 42 years. He was a member of the Kinnelon Rescue Squad which was organized in the mid 1960's as a unit that responded to free those entrapped in motor vehicle accidents and such. When the present Tri-Boro building was opened in 1970 there was a bay for a rescue truck so those members of the KRS merged into Tri-Boro, all becoming very active first aiders also for years.
