That's ridiculous kinnelon has token this way to far and should not be doing this!

That's great, being my children aren't trick or treat age, I can take the Halloween decorations down but where can I donate the unused candy that I just spent money on to give out to all the cute kids that won't be coming to my house? If I only knew this a couple days ago, I wouldn't have even bought it!

....I am in Butler....we had no candy since we saw signs posted that there would be no Halloween due to the storm...we had my elderly parents here and I was not answering the door but that didn't stop the little "darlings" from peering in the windows and pounding on the door.....I believe that parents should teach their children that sometimes life comes with unusual circumstances and disappointment is part of life....at least for the older children....I can see having parties for the really little ones who cannot understand.....I thought the children that came to my home showed a real lack of manners....I think a lot of parents are falling down on the job.

Elaine, I think they would have more fun trick or treating instead of walking around a parking lot.

When kids come to the door, give something, even if it is a nickel. Most people were inconvenienced, in varying degrees, by this storm. Jenn, why don't you eat a piece every day and live a little? Life is too short to be complaining about your "inconveniences" around Halloween!

Waldo, I am a diabetic and can't eat the candy, but thanks for the suggestion. I'm not complaining about the inconveniences, but I'm on a tight budget and every penny counts. I'm actually doing a NICE thing by asking where I can donate the candy? Seeing you eat candy everyday, why don't you tell me where I can donate it to you?

Suggestions:
1. Don't open candy bags until the first knock-if no Halloween, return to store for credit on next shopping trip
2. The town and people are collecting things for those less fortunate around the shore areas, Staten Island, etc.
3. If you have reason to visit a hospital or nursing home, leave the candy there, people working in the health care profession deserve the option of some comfort food, more than anyone.
4. Use the candy to make friends with anyone you want! Police, fire, politicians, scouts, sports-surely you can think of something.

Dee all you had to was turn the front lights out like normal Halloween scrooges do every year. That would have stopped the knocking on the door. Sorry I have a 4 yr old who had an absolute blast Sat night. Glad we didn't come across someone like you when we knocked on the door.

So does the trick or trunk mean the older kids will not be trick or treating in the evening. That's a bummer. They enjoy the evening and the excitement of the night. Too bad, but understandable.

See the attached story. Donate it to the Kinnelon Food Pantry. There are 28 families that use the Pantry and they need kids snacks and items that are not necessities. I'm sure the kids in these famlies would appreciate it.

So ok, really, who is still putting on their light and handing out candy on Saturday? I have an 11 yr old and a 14 yr old - they are NOT going to walk around a parking lot in broad daylight trick or treating. I fully plan on leaving the light on and handing out candy, and if my kids decide to trick or treat with their friends, as planned, I am not stopping them.

Shame on all of you! People lost their homes during Hurricane Sandy and all you can do is ramble on and on about kids not wanting to walk around a parking lot? There are safety issues still in play out there. Get a grip on reality and be grateful that Kinnelon is acknowledging Halloween when its long been over. Just buy your kids a bag of candy and call it a day.
