Dapper Bandit Possibly Spotted in Kinnelon Bank

'Suspicious' male seen at PNC Bank may be linked to series of Morris County robberies.

A "suspicious" man seen at a Kinnelon bank Tuesday afternoon may be linked to a series of recent bank robberies throughout the county this summer, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi, Kinnelon police responded to the PNC Bank inside the Meadtown Shopping Center at about 3:10 p.m. after a "suspicious" white male had been seen. The male exited the bank without incident, the prosecutor said.

Bianchi released information on Twitter that described the male wearing an outfit similar to that of the male who has been sought for other robberies throughout the county, including the robbery of a Lincoln Park bank on Thursday.

Bianchi said the male was described as 6-feet tall, clean shaven and wearing wire-rim eyeglasses. He was also described as wearing a green sports jacket, light-colored button-down dress shirt, black slacks and a tan baseball cap.

The man authorities believe to be responsible for Thursday's robbery was described as a white male in his 20s or 30s, between 6-feet and 6-foot-2.

He was seen wearing a straw cowboy hat, olive green blazer, white dress shirt, dark-colored pants, eyeglasses and black Nike shoes, the prosecutor's office said. Bank robberies in Parsippany and Mount Olive in July and another Lincoln Park bank in August.

"We are evaluating the connection to prior bank robberies that have recently occurred within Morris County," Bianchi said on Twitter.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is also assisting with the investigation, in conjunction with the prosecutor's office, Kinnelon Police Department and Morris County Sheriff's Department.

Anyone with information should contact either the Kinnelon Police Department at 973-838-5400, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office at 973-285-6200, the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Stopper Program at 973-COPCALL or the FBI at 973-792-3000.

Well, I guess the photographs shown here answer that question, but how would the cameras aid in his immediate capture? Unless one happened to fall on his head....

Wearing a sports jacket AND a baseball cap is a bit odd, isn't it?
This guy is begging to be caught...and he will.

At my bank there are signs everywhere that no hats and sunglasses allowed. How are these people walking up to the counter in hats or in the recent robbery in parsippany, a mask. I would imagine someone should be telling them to remove their hat when they walk in the door. If nothing else it might throw them off or we can get a better look.

So...does no one from the bank notice this guy and follow him on the way out to see if gets in car and read plates?...is it only in movies that the little button under the teller counter gets pressed to alert security/police? I ask this of all the robberies going on? Makes you wonder if he is working with people in each of these banks.

Yeah it's a bit odd that in every bank "robbery" he has no weapon. He just saunters in with his weird attire and leaves. No one follows or tries to make conversation while authorities show up. Just strange. Also, it's a shopping center so a lot of people would be around to notice, especially if he ran out or something. I just don't understand how he just comes and goes and no one follows him.

How come it doesn't say what he was doing at the teller's window? Did he try to rob this bank, did he make some kind of transaction, etc.?

We can only report the information that authorities provide. At the Indus American Bank robbery, the suspect reportedly handed the teller a note with instructions. Don't know if that was done in this incident and for now officials aren't saying.

Scot Wayne, you have the info we have right here, but if you know something, contact law enforcement and your Patch editor.
