Cops: Man Buys Jewelry With Stolen Credit Cards

Police said jeweler became suspicious when thief pretended to be a rapper.

Kinnelon police arrested 24-year-old Alden Wing, of West Milford, Friday on charges of credit card fraud, identity theft, theft by deception, possession of stolen property and forgery.

According to police, Wing had allegedly stolen two credit cards from his grandparents while living in West Milford and used them to purchase more than $22,000 worth of jewelry from Kinnelon Jewelry, over a two-month period. Police said the jeweler became suspicious after Wing allegedly told the jeweler he was a rapper and needed the jewelry for his entourage.

Det. Sgt. David Crouthamel, along with investigators from Bank of America and Chase Bank, investigated the incident and arrested Wing on Friday. He was processed at the Bergen County jail, where police said he is being lodged on another, unrelated offense. Once released, police said he will be sent to the Morris County jail on $20,000 bail.
