Man Charged With Murder of Wife in Sushi Restaurant
Parsippany resident accused of fatally stabbing spouse in Lake Hiawatha eatery.
A Parsippany man has been accused of fatally stabbing his wife inside a Lake Hiawatha restaurant on North Beverwyck Road late Friday night, the Morris County Prosecutor said.
Jiu Jian Zheng, 42, has been charged with first-degree murder, fourth-degree unlawful posession of a weapon and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Zheng's wife, Yun Fei Lin, 34, was found dead inside Kazumi Sushi at 81 N. Beverwyck Road after Parsippany Police received a 911 call from an individual inside the restaurant Friday night at about 11:40 p.m., the prosecutor's office said.
The couple lived together in Parsippany, the prosecutor's office said. The prosecutor's office could not immediately confirm if the couple owned or worked at the restaurant.
North Beverwyck Road was re-opened late Saturday afternoon after it had been closed since late Friday night as multiple agencies probed the scene. The killing stunned area merchants and residents.
Morris County Deputy Medical Examiner Doctor Carlos Fonseca determined the cause of death was significant blood loss from multiple stab wounds, the prosecutor's office said. The manner of death was determined to be homicide, the prosecutor's office said.
Zheng was arrested at the scene Friday night, the prosecutor's office said.
Zheng is expected to be transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1 million cash bail, the prosecutor's office said.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Section, Morris County Medical Examiner's Office, Morris County Department of Law & Public Safety and the Morris County Office of Emergency Management responded to the scene.
The New Jersey State Police, Morris Township Police Department, Glen Rock Police Department and the Montville Police Department also assisted with the investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Parsippany Troy-Hills Police Department at 973-263-4300, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office at 973-285-2900 or the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Stopper Program.
