UPDATED: 5 to 7 More Days Before Power Restoration

Butler Electric is continuing to work to restore service, but feeder line remains down.

Tri-Boro residents could be without power for a while longer.

Butler Electric is working feverishly to restore service to areas with large numbers of outages.

Restoration could take 5 to 7 more days, Kinnelon's Office of Emergency Management said Wednesday morning.

Crews are making "great progress" clearing debris and restoring wires, however the feeder from JCP&L is still uncertain, the OEM statement said.

Even when power is restored, gas and fuel will continue to be an issue as local refineries are under water, the OEM statement said.

Most residents have been without power since a feeder line failure in Butler Monday.

Once JCP&L restores power to the Butler sub-stations a large majority of Butler Electric customers will have power.

How is JCP&L being held accountable for there work, they are not tracking the Tri-boro area as there outage, even though from this they are responsible.

JCP&L had horrendous turnaround times the last few weather catastrophies that we had...I am sorry to hear that they supply anything to Butler Electric.

I've dealt with JCP&L in the past and they are the worst. I'll take Butler Power & Light any day. I'm sure while BP&L are waiting for JCP&L to repair the feeder line, BP&L crews are keeping busy doing what has to be done to prepare for the feeder line repair like replacing poles, clearing debris, replacing down lines.

Mike does that mean that all Butler Elect is on now? I live in Butler Ridge and I'm not home and haven't been home. That's really good news, it means they are making progress!

That's great! I wonder if I have electric in Butler Ridge. Does anyone know if the gas stations on 23 will open now that they have electric?

Hi everyone, I just wrote an update. Some power has been restored in Kinnelon, Butler and Bloomingdale (read more about it here: http://patch.com/A-zjP2). Frank, I love that idea! Shout out here if your power's back and tell us what the very first thing you will do to enjoy it will be! Make the rest of us power-less people feel jealous :)

Many lines at Hess station on Rt 23 N in Butler. Heard there have been a few fights at a Newton gas station. It's crazy.

I truly did not realize that jcpl supplied Butler Electric but that certainly explains the week without power!! my daughter lives in Ringwood, also serviced by jcp&l and they are out days to weeks everytime power is out!! I thought Butler was supplied by a Pennsylvania company? When was it switched to JCP&L and with their track record it is truly a disappointing change. I would rather have PSE&G where I get my gas from! And all that said; God bless those that have lost their homes at the Jersey shore area and other waterfront areas. Thanks to those who are working hard for all of us as well.

Thank you SO much to the men & woman working around the clock to get the Butler Power & Electric back up and running! It is truly a miracle that it only took 46 hours to restore power to parts of Kinnelon. I hope this message reaches them so they know how truly amazing they are and how much we truly appreciate their hard work over these last few days!!!

Thank you to the men and women of Butler Electric for bringing back electricity earlier than expected! Great Job as usual. Hopefully all of Tri Boro has power back. Now about that gas for the cars and trucks.......

Of course the people with running water or gas get power back first. While we rednecks in "the Borough" with septic, wells, and oil still have nothing. Hope you enjoy your amenities while we sit here freeze, flush toilets with buckets of rain water, and cook on a camp stove. If I had power I would be inviting friends over for a warm shower, warm house, and a hot meal instead of gloating on a website. Yes, Arianna, I guess I'm jealous. Where are our service organizations making hot meals to serve to those with no power, like they did last year for people in the Pompton areas.

Hey Power-less, why don't you stop whining and actually do something good with your spare time. I too WAS without power (and am thankful for the folks at Butler Electric for their valiant efforts) but I DID SOMETHING when I had the chance. I went out after taking care of the damages at my home and cleaned an elderly persons gutters . I went out and helped reinstall a facade that was dangerously hanging down at another location so that no one would get injured and I went out and helped at a local organic farm pick up hundreds of branches and other debris so that the farmer could spend her time wisely bringing in the rest of her fall crops so that others can eat. Others like Scott down at Trackside in Butler fed for MANY hours the cold and hungry that came to his establishment finding food from any source possible just to help out others in need. There are things that WE can do to help ourselves and to help our fellow neighbors so go out and do something, anything and I think you will feel a lot better about this terrible situation.
