Park Lighting Will Bring Holiday Magic to Butler Again
Annual event scheduled for Dec. 7.
The Borough of Butler will light up the downtown park again this year, kicking off the holiday season and illuminating the area.
The celebration will be held on Dec. 7 beginning at 7 p.m.
The Butler Park lighting is an annual tradition that brings families from the tri-boro and beyond together for a night of music, fun and holiday cheer in front of the Butler police station. Santa Claus and his wife make an appearance and invite children to hop up on Santa's lap and make a Christmas request.
Last year, Santa Claus arrived on one of four firetrucks completely decorated in holiday lights.

This is the 65th consecutive year that the Butler Park has been lit up for the Christmas season. I am proud to say that my grandfather, Bill Dean, was the newly installed mayor of Butler when the tradition began in 1948. At that time the mayor and council decided to decorate the many green pine trees in the park instead of string the lights across Main Street.

Walking around the park during this evening gives you the lovely small town feeling that is Butler. Thanks to all who make this Christmas event come alive.
