Republican Incumbents Roll in 26th District

Pennacchio, DeCroce and Webber earn re-election.

The Republican incumbents swept the District 26 legislative race Tuesday.

Sen. Joseph Pennacchio (R-Pine Brook) earned re-election with 64 percent of the vote, beating challenger Wasim Khan, who won 33 percent of the vote, while  Joseph Scafa (I-Rockaway) received 3 percent of the vote.

Pennacchio, asked if he considered the win a referendum on the governor—as some winning Republicans in neighboring districts did—rejected the idea.

"This is a referendum on my views and the service I provide," he said.

Alex DeCroce (R-Morris Plains) and Jay Webber each received 32 percent of the votes to earn re-election to the general assembly. Joseph Raich (D-Parsippany) won 18 percent of the vote, while Elliot Isibor (D-Rockaway) collected 17 percent and Michael Spector (I-Mount Tabor) received 2 percent of the vote.
