Many Mourn Retired State Trooper Killed in Crash
Mourners pay respect to Preston 'Jay' Fairlamb Jr. Tuesday.
A line of mourners that extended nearly an entire block of Bartholdi Avenue waited patiently Tuesday afternoon to say goodbye to Preston "Jay" Fairlamb Jr., a retired state trooper from Butler who was killed in a motorcycle accident in May.
Fairlamb retired from the New Jersey State Police as a lieutenant in 2002 after 28 years working as a trooper. Bartholdi Avenue was blocked off in the area of St. Anthony's RC Church, where the visitation hours were held between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., by not only Butler Police, but New Jersey State Police as well.
Fairlamb died at 64 years old on May 13 after the accident in Hardyston that also sent his wife, Kathleen, who was a passenger on his motorcycle, to the hospital.

What a really great tribute to Jay Fairlamb and a realy great genuine outpouring of comfort to Kathy and the entire family. While Michelle Obama was there we could hear a pin drop inside the church.
