Synthetic Marijuana Arrest Resulted From Report of Possible Hand Gun
Police said passengers in reportedly suspicious pickup truck were playing with Airsoft gun.
Following up on a report of passengers having what appeared to be a handgun in a suspicious pickup truck in the area of Ricker Terrace and Meadow Lane in Kinnelon Thursday afternoon, police arrested a 20-year-old Hackettstown man on charges of possession of synthetic marijuana.
Police said the gun was determined to be an Airsoft gun after the officers found the truck on Meadow Lane at about 1:33 p.m. and removed the four occupants from the vehicle. The occupants allegedly told police they were in the area looking for scrap metal to sell.
Jason C. Baron was charged with possession of synthetic marijuana and Taylor R. Cross, 21, of Mt. Arlington, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Marc E. Schultz, 21, of Butler, another occupant of the vehicle, was released at the scene and a 17-year-old female from Monroe, NY, was released to her guardian at the Kinnelon police station. Baron and Cross were transported to the Kinnelon police station and issued tickets to appear in court at a later date.
