Glenwild Garden Center in Bloomingdale held its first Tomato Festival on Saturday. Allison Hosford, of Two Pond Farm, had variety of tomatoes that are grown in her gardens.

Hosford shared German yellow stripe (Tequila Sunrise), Macedonian pear, banana, oxheart and purple cherokee tomatoes. Several participants also brought tomatoes from their home gardens for tasting. The tomatoes for tasting were rated on overall appearance, skin thickness, flavor, texture, color and taste.

Along with the tomato tasting, Flossie Oarsley, Christine Dawson (with two entries), Kathy Valle and Don Bogert each participated in the salsa tasting contest. Taste of Dawn in Butler donated the tortilla chips for the event. Valle won the contest and was awarded a $25 gift certificate and participant.
