A tree snapped and struck a 50-year-old Butler man in the head as Tropical Storm Sandy intensified Monday evening, Butler Police said.

The tree snapped and fell in the man's Kiel Avenue backyard, according to Butler Capt. Chiro Chimento.

The man was transported to Morristown Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
