Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Welcome to Kinnelon-Butler Patch

A new online news source brings you information about Kinnelon, Butler and Bloomingdale.

The past few weeks, when I've been explaining Kinnelon-Butler Patch, a lot of people asked me to spell "Patch."

"Batch?" a lot of people asked, before I came back with, "No, P as in Peter."

But then, once they understood what I was saying, I had a few people tell me, "Ahhh, well that's pretty clever."

Kinnelon-Butler Patch, as I explained, will feature news stories, sports coverage, opinion columns, reviews and more about our little patch of a community in Northern New Jersey.

Had something like this been around when I was growing up in Kinnelon, perhaps my friends and I wouldn't have groaned so much, "There's nothing to do tonight!" Coming back to Kinnelon, and actually paying attention to the organizations and events going on in Kinnelon, Butler and Bloomingdale, I see it's quite the opposite. There's always something to do.

This week alone I got to taste a Kinnelon resident's hot sauce during a presentation on the history of hot sauce, go on a tour of High Point Brewing Co., home of Ramstein beer, and listen to music in a cafe-style setting at the Kinnelon Public Library.

I've also had the opportunity to meet many of our borough officials and school board members, and look forward to building relationships with them in the future as Kinnelon-Butler Patch covers school board and government meetings.

My hope is that the community gets as excited about Kinnelon-Butler Patch as I am, and helps me build it up to be something truly great. I also hope that while we cover the serious news that affects our community, we get to have a little fun, too, whether it's covering cute stories about our neighborhood pets or some of the more peculiar personalities that make our community unique.
