Neighbors-helping-Neighbors was founded Janurary 27, 2011, in the River Edge Library in Bergen County, and each Thursday night afterward a small group of people (5-8) who were looking for career transistions met each week and helped each other out with techniques, suggestions, networking help, and the support and example of how to attack the most difficult job market in history.
Fourteen months and counting, we now have 18 library-based weekly programs in five New Jersey counties, with 495 active members, 92 success stories and the desire to continue to work to find each and every member a job that they deserve.
NhN Mission
NhN is a network of volunteer peer support groups that follow a community-based approach to help under-employed and unemployed residents get back to work. NhN embraces a ‘pay it forward’ ethos, asking all associates to contribute to other members by sharing job search techniques, related professional career development resources, personal referrals and generally providing a forum where members feeling empowered, energized and focused on the job search.
The groups cumulative spirit and collective knowledge has already accomplished amazing things and the all volunteer membership shows no sign of slowing down.
We have established a group of nhn members who will be our regular approved bloggers and will hopefully share helpful information to the community at large who may have a need for our job search group. As we know there is no family out there that has not be impacted by this job market, and we feel strongly that we can assist to make that process a little bit more productive.
