The Kinnelon Ordinance Committee wants to hear from the public about the proposed ordinance in the Kinnelon High School auditorium at 7 p.m.
The ordinance requires that no one may “occupy or use any premises” until it has been vacated and until the person receives a certificate of occupancy from the borough’s code enforcement officer.
The ordinance would require that property be inspected prior to being sold to ensure that all work “meets existing borough code.”
“Right now we don’t have anything in place so if a buyer was to purchase a home and wasn’t compliant, it would be put to the buyer to identify what needs to be repaired,” said Kinnelon Mayor Michael Collins. “We want to protect the community.”
