Hello Carol, thank you for accepting my friend request. I'm looking for a lovely Maltese puppy, I asked my friend ?????????? to recommend somebody and advised if I want a healthy Maltese to come to you. I'd love a little girl to exhibit. I've never owned a maltese, I have Long Coat Chihuahuas so would need advice with grooming. If you think you could help please let me know. Suzanne.

Hi Carol, I have two Long Coat Chihuahuas, Tiny & Emily which I bred myself (you can see them on my Facebook), the mother is spayed and lives with my mum. Emily doesn't like the show ring and is too small to breed from so she is due to be spayed sometime soon and will stay here as our adorable snuggly pet. Tiny I exhibit, he has qualified for Crufts for life with his Stud book number and has a few 1sts, RBOB & BOB. He is such a show off! He is used as stud to approved bitches only, which I'm VERY fussy about (he has had 2 litters, age 3). The next litter he sires will be my friends bitch (who also shows), and I'm hoping to get a nice pup from the litter to have something new to exhibit, this will leave us with 3 (4 including a Maltese). Financially it doesn't bother me, what is upmost importance is health, hence why I asked ?????? for advice. It's very well having a nice type but if the dog itself isn't healthy and happy then what's the point! If I was to have a litter from a maltese I'd like to come back to the breeder for advice and possibly use one of the breeders studs. However if for whatever reason I can't breed or exhibit the dog then she will be a lovely pet. I've always admired Malteses but worried about the grooming, however my friends Pekingese stayed with us for a week last month and needed brushing twice a day, which was actually easier than I thought it would be. I'm happy to wait, like I said health is really important me so I'd rather wait for a healthy Maltese than just jump the gun. I'd also like to come and visit you and the puppy before I import. I like to meet the parents and let you meet me etc. Suzanne

Awwww Carol I adore your little fudge, she has such a beautiful face, I love the pigmentation in her nose. I was slightly disheartened the other day when I was browsing through a "exhibitors" (I use that word lightly) facebook to find round eyes and slightly light nose, very undesirable however as I thought, beauty is only skin deep.. to then realise this dog had SM my heart sank. Whilst I believe the breeder said the dog will be castrated, she said she will repeat the mating. At that point I didn't have the energy to argue, and of course it isn't my place as I've never been in the breed to judge. Again, I won't gossip about other breeders or mention names.

THE STORY IN BRIEF

These were the first pms I received from Suzanne. To me all seemed legitimate and she seemed a caring responsible person and from then on we chatted quite a lot. She seemed to say all the right things answer all the right questions, making me feel confident she would be a good candidate for a puppy. I warmed to her and wanted to help on the road and offered her my Puppy called Fudge. Suzanne arranged to drive to me from UK and I asked her if she would mind bringing a few things to me being as she was travelling by car of which she said she didn't mind at all. I went ahead and ordered some doggy things in Uk which included some grooming tools for Suzanne and had the orders sent to her. This amounted to something in the region of £300. After a period of time, conversation suddenly went dead. I heard nothing. None of my pms were answered. A week went by and finally Suzanne got back to me saying her Grandfather had Cancer and it was all a bit of a shock. I said how sorry I was and conversation continued again for a short period but then went quiet once more. She had told me she had booked the ferry but I had problems getting an answer as to her date and time of arrival to me. Finally she did get back to me and told me when she expected to leave home and arrive to me but I was concerned as it seemed that no sooner would she arrive to me that she would have to return home. I said I thought this would be extremely tiring for her and her boyfriend, I had also wanted time to teach her the basics in grooming but also I said I was worried about Fudge as they were having to drive 24 hrs non stop!!!! From then on she became very evasive until eventually it was quite obvious she wasn't going to come. I then asked about the collection of my goods. I had a friend who was willing to collect. She continued to ignore my pms, another friend made contact with her boyfriend to try and get my goods and when she did finally respond she kept saying she was busy and her life did not revolve around answering my pms. In the end she said she was throwing my parcels outside. I contacted the police who went to her accommodation but she wasn't their. I also had a friend call round but although she heard some noise from within the property nether the less no answer. On the second attempt the police called, they spoke with her landlord. (I was told by Suzanne during our conversations that she owned her own property wanting to sell and move down South) The landlord let the police in and they found the remains of wrapping paper with my name on them but none of the contents. It will now go to the criminal court.

This has made me realise how vulnerable we are on FB. That people can portray what they want you to believe. I just thank God she didn't have my dog.
