Wayne Defeats North Warren to win 2014 NJ District 1 Championship

Summary:
Eddie Vargas started, battling 7 strong innings against a excellent team from Warren Hills. He left game after 7 trailing 5-3... He got out of jam after jam in a gutty performance. Danny Wronka came in to hold them scoreless in the 8th and then Wayne rallied. Lewis Beato singled , his 3rd hit of game, then Danny Wronka singled him to third, his 3rd hit of game. Mike Elia beat out a slow roller to third that scored a run to make it 5-4.... That sent up Mike Blumenthal who came through with a line drive base hit in the left center field gap to score two runs to take the lead in the bottom of the 8th inning. Jake Anderson came in to close out the ninth. The first two guys got on with base hits, but Andersen struck out the next 3 batters to close out the game. What a game !! Mike Blumenthal had a great game. 4 hits, 3RBI. Lewis Beato not only hit, 3-4 but made three tremendous plays at SS . He was unbelievable tonight.

Wayne advances to the State Championship in Ewing on Saturday. A win may set up a match with 2013 National Champions Brooklawn.
