Animal Shelter to Celebrate Strawberries, Fundraise

Strawberry Festival to be held Sunday at the L'Ecole Kinnelon Museum.

Tri-Boro Animal Welfare will be hosting its fourth annual Strawberry Festival at the L'Ecole Museum Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. During the free event, the public will be able to enjoy baked goods with strawberry themes (like Strawberry Shortcake) and purchas local artwork and jewelry, with a portion of the proceeds going to the animal shelter.

Tri-Boro Animal Welfare services animals in the Kinnelon and Butler area. Recently, the organization announced that it would be, but President Cheryl Canale said this will be one of the last fundraisers of the joint organization.

"Our annual Strawberry Festival gives Tri-Boro Animal Welfare the chance to mingle as volunteers and meet the public while enjoying strawberry shortcake, showcase the art work of local artists and meet new friends and have fun," she said.  "Helping us toward our fourth annual Strawberry Festival and Art Show success, we thank L’Ecole Museum in Kinnelon and Caryl Keyser for allowing us to hold our event in this wonderful historic building."

Canale said that this year's festival will include work by a local ceramic artist, local landscape artist and two jewelers.

Aside from being in the name of the festival, Canale said, "The only significance of 'strawberry' in the name is that this is the time of the year when strawberries are in season and some of our baked goods are strawberry-themed."

Canale said that being able to use the for the event is a nice way for the borough to be included and for the public to learn more about the facility.

"It not only is a nice venue for us, but the event provides an incentive for the public to visit the museum who might not normally think of going there," she said.
