Butler Fire Department Serves Up Corned Beef and Cabbage

Fire Department members served guests a traditional St. Patrick's Day dinner Thursday.

The Butler Fire Department held a St. Patrick's Day dinner on Thursday evening. The dinner attracted a huge turnout and got underway at 5 p.m., with Butler Department members serving guests food and pouring beverages.

A steady stream of Butler residents and guests from surrounding towns came for a traditional St. Patrick's Day meal. Heaping trays of corned beef, cabbage, baby carrots, baked potatoes,  garden salad and bread awaited diners. Everyone had a choice of desserts to eat, such as Irish soda bread, cupcakes and cookies.

Butler firemen began preparing the food at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. About 360 pounds of meat were cooked and cut to be served.
