Epileptic Butler Girl to Benefit From 5K Run

A 5K run/walk will be held in Butler Sunday to benefit the family of a 4-year-old girl from the borough who suffers from refractory epilepsy.

Brady Sinopoli was diagnosed with the disease last year, but her medical issues began when she was just three months old and her mother, Cheryl, found her blue in her crib. Sinopoli's father is a Butler police officer.

Sunday's event, which will begin at 9 a.m. at Stonybrook Swim Club and end with lunch at Memorial Field in Butler, is one of several local fundraising events that have been held to benefit Sinopoli and her family. Cheryl Sinopoli said in August that she is hoping to be able to provide her daughter with a seizure dog that can alert those nearby when she is having an episode. Money raised will also help pay for medical bills and medications through Brady's Bright Side, the foundation set up for Sinopoli.

The run will be 3.2 miles long and the route will be open to traffic. There will also be a charity softball game and vendor fair at the end of the event. The fastest male and female runners will be awarded prizes and all proceeds from the event, including the $25 registration fee, will benefit the Sinopoli family.
