Five Upcoming Events in the Tri-boro

A look at what will be happening in Kinnelon, Butler or Bloomingdale.

We've survived July and next week we will welcome August. Here's hoping we have no more heat waves.

Weather aside, we figure now's a good time to tell you about some things that are coming up in the tri-boro in the next several weeks. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. You Need to Know the Frank the Barber Street Dedication Has Been Postponed: The, Bloomingdale, to Frank the Barber Boulevard, was scheduled to happen Saturday, but is being postponed. Department of Public Works Superintendent Al Gallagher said he expects the dedication ceremony to be held in August.
  2. You Need to Know You Can Workout For Free at NYSC If the Temperature Tops 90 Degrees: This may not be an "event" but every time the temperature is higher than 90 degrees, New York Sports Club, of Butler, is allowing New Jersey residents to come workout for free.
  3. You Need to Know Butler's National Night Out is Happening Tuesday: The free community event featuring the Police Pipes and Drums Band of Morris County, hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza from and giveaways will be held at Butler Park (in front of the Butler Police station) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  4. You Need to Know Lost Patrol is Performing in Butler in August: Lost Patrol, the New York band whose music was featured in the CW hit television show Gossip Girl, will be performing at Architekt Music, 1 Boonton Avenue, on Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.
  5. You Need to Know Books Are Already Being Collected for the Friends of the Kinnelon Library Book Sale: The Friends are collecting gently books until Aug. 19 for the annual book sale, which will be held Aug. 26-Aug. 29. at the Kiel Avenue Firehouse. If you are interested in dropping off your used books, contact the Friends at 973-838-1321.
