Follow Animal Footsteps, Learn How to Make Maple Syrup

Bloomingdale and Kinnelon boards of education have meetings on tap.

The Bloomingdale and Kinnelon boards of education will meet this week, while children can learn more about animal tracks at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center and a demonstration how maple syrup is made at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum.

Here's a look at what else is happening:

Monday—The Bloomingdale Board of Education will meet at at 7 p.m.

Tuesday—Pilates Plus, focusing on yoga, strengthening exercises and cardio, will be held at the at 7 p.m. The 10-week class costs $50. For more information, call 973-838-7618.

Wednesday—The Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center in Chatham hosts On the Right Track, a program designed for children to learn what animal tracks can tell you about the species. The program, which costs $5, will run from 6 to 9 p.m., and is geared for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Registration is required.

Thursday—The Riverdale Library will host a seminar on starting your own business from 6 to 8 p.m. The free presentation is provided by SCORE, a group of counselors who train, mentor and give business advice. The Kinnelon Board of Education will also meet at at 8 p.m.

Friday—The hosts a Young Adult Book Club meeting at 3 p.m.

Saturday—The girls basketball team hosts at 11 a.m.

Sunday—The Frelinghuysen Arboretum hosts Mad for Maple Syrup. Geared for children ages 6 and up, the program demonstrates how syrup is made and allows children to taste samples, eat pancakes, tap a tree, see a cooking demonstration and learn how maple syrup can be used. The event runs from 1 to 3 p.m., and costs $20 per family. Registration is required. For more information, call 973-326-7601.
