Honor Your Veterans in Bloomingdale Friday

Annual Veterans Day and more to be held nearby this week.

Friday is Veterans Day and there are many appreciation events being held locally and in nearby towns.

Here's a look at what's in store:

Veterans Appreciation Event
When/Where: Friday at 11 a.m. at Sloan Park on Main Street, Bloomingdale
Why Go: To show your appreciation for Bloomingdale's veterans
Cost: Free

Night at the Races
When/Where: Friday at 6 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua School, 57 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler
Why Go: To participate in an exciting night of video horse racing from the parish center of the school. Beer, soda and coffee will be available as well as sandwiches and dessert. Babysitting will also be available.
Cost: $20 per person


Where/When: Friday at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 1771 Route 46, Parsippany
Why Go: To give thanks and honor to those who served in the armed forces
Cost: Free

When/When: Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Church, 375 Reynolds Ave., Parsippany
Why Go: To give the gift of life.
Cost: Free, but the gift you'll give is priceless.

Blue Hens Sing at St. Peter's
When/Where: Friday at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Morristown
Why Go: You dig choral music.
Cost: Free


When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at Morristown Running Company
Why Go: You want to get out there before it gets too cold, and you'd like to run with a group.
Cost: Free


When/Where: Saturday at 1 p.m. at Morristown High School
Why Go: You want to cheer on the Colonials one last time this year.
Cost: Free

Morristown Farmers Market
When/Where: Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Parking Lot No. 10, Spring and Morris streets
Why Go: It's the second to last farmers market of the season in Morristown. Shop local!
Cost: Bring your wallet


Where/When: Friday at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on Chimney Rock Road in Martinsville
Why Go: To honor veterans who have served the nation with the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company and township officials.
Cost: Free


Where/When: Friday at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Gardens American Legion on Old York Road in Bridgewater
Why Go: To honor veterans who have served the nation with the American Legion and township officials.
Cost: Free
