Kinnelon 'American Idol' Contestant Moves on to Hollywood

Elise Testone described Kinnelon as a 'small town.'

Elise Testone, a 2001 l graduate, was sent by American Idol judges to Hollywood during Wednesday's season premiere.

E! Online's website labels Testone "the now-requisite Janis Joplin growler of the bunch" after she belted out a soulful song for Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler on the episode.

Testone told Skirt!Charleston, a women's magazine based out of Charleston, that she was from in 2008. She described the borough as "a small town called Kinnelon in New Jersey-many mountains, small lakes and natural hiking trails."

Testone's Facebook page said she graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in music with a focus on vocal performance. Friends praised her on Facebook Wednesday night, including one who wrote "I am so beyond proud of you. Can't stop tearing up. Xoxo. Hollywood!"
