Mega Yard Sale at Ridge; History Tour of Basking Ridge

Attend or sell items at Saturday's massive yard sale planned at Ridge High School, and take a tour outlining Basking Ridge history on Sunday.

The Basking Ridge Patch has come up with a list of some of the great activities to sample through this weekend in your own town, or within a short distance.

A special Grab & Go section for kid-friendly activities is included.

Where/When: At  from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Basking Ridge on Saturday, April 30.
Why Go: Find bargains or unload your no-longer-wanted items as part of spring cleaning. Benefits the plucky Ridge gymnastic team, which last year finally raised enough money to buy equipment to host home meets!
Pricing: Depends how much you buy, or rent two parking bays for just $20 to get rid of your stuff! 

Where/When: Starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, at the at 15 W. Oak St. in downtown Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Hear fascinating stories about people and places in your own town, and see tour guide Paula Axt in period costume.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the  in Morris Township, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Why Go: Because this Tony Award-nominated comedy tells the story of an actor who seemingly has it all, but when his hit television series is cancelled and he finds himself playing Hamlet, a role he hates, his situation takes a turn for the worse.
Pricing: $40 for adults; $36 for senior citizens; $33 for museum members; $20 for students.

Where/When: 7 p.m. at  in Morris Plains on Friday, April 29.
Why Go: This beefsteak dinner with wine, beer, soft drinks and videocast horse racing will raise funds to support the Morris Plains Rotary’s charities.
Pricing: $50 per person.

Where/When: 7:30 p.m. at the  on Friday, April 29.
Why Go: Because you want to hear CCM’s chamber choir sing musical theater favorites, accompanied by the department’s faculty and presented by the music and dance and performing arts departments.
Pricing: Free.

Grab & Go for Family Entertainment

Sunday, May 1 at  in Bernards Township, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: 
It's a unique community festival with free pony rides, hayrides, games, music and family fun. Sparkee, the Somerset Patriots mascot, will be there too!
Free admission and parking.

Friday, April 29, at 10 a.m., at the  in Bernards Township.
Why Go: 
To grab the stroller and enjoy the emergence of spring along the trails of the park. 
$10 per pair, and $5 per additional child.

Saturday, April 30 at The , starting at 10:30 a.m.
Why Go: 
Members of the Bridgewater Garden Club will help children create special spring crafts.

Saturday, April 30 at  in Bridgewater, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., or noon to 1 p.m.
Why Go: 
It's a recipe of fun! Vegetables included!
$10 per child and parent, or $5 per child and parent with a Shoppers Club Card.

Saturday, April 30th at The Theatre at  in BranchburgPerformances at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Why Go: 
Because there is always room for an afternoon of tall stories, laughter and witches!  
$10 or $12 per ticket.

Saturday is also when the Ridge Cheerleaders will be holding their car wash at Ridge from 10AM-3PM in conjunction with the Mega Yard Sale!

Today's Historical Society Historic Walk in downtown Basking Ridge was so enjoyable. We heard many interesting stories about people and places ~ Paula Axt in her period costume was a great tour guide. Don't miss the opportunity to take this tour when you get the next chance.
