Traffic moved on Route 23 well Tuesday evening after snow and ice closed roads to be slick during the day, causing schools to dismiss early or open late.
Bloomingdale schools opened two hours late. Wayne public schools dismissed early, a move some parents complained about online.
The first snowfall of the season caused slick roads and made drivers be more cautious. Traffic was slow going on Route 23, with a couple of vehicles pulled over to the side of the road Tuesday morning, but traffic picked up as the day went along. By evening, traffic was back to normal and the roadways were merely wet.
“It could have been a lot worse,” said Cheryl Wilson as she put bags of groceries in her car at the Foodtown on Route 23 in Wayne. “There seemed to be no major accidents or injuries at all.”
