This Week: Jewish New Year, K-Fest to Be Celebrated

A look ahead at what's to come on Tri-Boro Patch.

Beginning at sundown on Wednesday, Jewish families throughout the tri-boro and world will begin to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, or the Jewish New Year. In observance of the holiday, those celebrating will eat apples with honey, to symbolize a sweet year to come, and listen to sounds of the Shofar.

In honor of Rosh Hashanah, which ends at sundown on Friday, we'll bring you several related articles. But that's not all that's coming up this week.

Here's what you can expect to see coverage from on Tri-Boro Patch:

  1. Monday- The will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the library.
  2. Tuesday-The l will be meeting at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall, 101 Hamburg Turnpike.
  3. Wednesday-We will bring you a Rosh Hashanah recipe and more to read before the holiday begins at sundown.
  4. Saturday-Bloomingdale will be celebrating Pride Day from noon to 5 p.m. at There will be rides, food and activities and we will be there taking photos.
  5. Sunday-Kinnelon will be celebrating its first K-Fest, a , at Lake Rickabear from noon to 6 p.m. There will be food, live music, a petting zoo, artists' exhibits and more. We will have our own table at the event and be taking photos throughout the day, but Kinnelon residents can register early to attend here.
