Band and Choir Perform at Butler High School Spring Concert

School music program highlighted in year-end event.

choir and band students performed their 2011 Spring Concert on Thursday. Guests were treated to a night of music at the high school.

The concert began with the Butler High School band performing the Star Spangled Banner. The students performed a mix of classical numbers and modern pop standards. Songs such as "Defying Gravity," from the broadway musical "Wicked" and the pop classic "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" were among the variety of songs performed.

During the event, awards and certificates were given to individual students in recognition of their musical achievments. Elena Bocchino who has been a music teacher at Butler High School for 19 years stated, "The choir and band have been rehearsing for two months for this event."
