Kinnelon Native, 'Idol' Contestant, to Release New Album

Elise Testone will release a new album “In This Life” Feb. 11.

The album is the latest chapter in Testone’s music career. The Kinnelon native placed sixth in on “American Idol” in 2012. She toured nationally with the show’s top 10 finalists later on that year. She was criticized as having a great singing voice but singing bad songs that didn’t resonate with younger viewers.

“It was a steppingstone for me,” Testone said on her website. “Before I was on ‘Idol’ I never gave myself the time to embellish the writing skills that I have. I felt that I showed only a third of myself and I was excited to see my whole self.”

“In This Life” tells the story of Testone’s “personal struggles with relationships on various levels and the effects they have had on me and my growth as a woman.”

Testone will perform at Mexicali Live in Teaneck March 21. She released the single “I Will Not Break” in October.
