University Singers to Make Tour Stop in Kinnelon

Popular, classical hits to be performed by singing group.

The advanced concert choir out of University of Maine, University Singers, will be making a stop on their 35th annual spring tour in Kinnelon at Our Lady of the Magnificat Church on March 15.

More than 70 singers will come to the church as the last stop on the tour at 7:30 p.m.

"The University Singers is an advanced concert choir with members from all academic disciplines. The ensemble tours the Northeast each spring and schedules a European tour every four years. At home, the group regularly performs with the university’s Oratorio Society and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra," according to a press release about the group.

The group is led by University Singers conductor Dennis Cox, who has directed the singers for 35 years. Typically, the singers make stops at schools for assemblies and music programs run by UMaine alumni.

“I know from experience that Dr. Cox puts together an excellent program that has something in it for everyone and that will appeal to a variety of community members and students,” Jeremy Milton, director of choral music at Old Saybrook High School in CT, said.
