Breast Cancer Has Tress Chic Cutting for a Cause

Bloomingdale hair salon will donate proceeds from cut-a-thon to breast cancer awareness.

Tress Chic, in Bloomingdale, is supporting breast cancer awareness this month as the hair salon collects donations for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Additionally, the salon will be sponsoring a cut-a-thon on Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. where all money earned for services that day will be donated to the foundation.

"Every penny we collect that day, including gratuities, it will all be donated," Mary Fox Sabo, a manager of the salon, said.

During the cut-a-thon, haircuts and blowouts will cost $15; pink hair extensions will cost $10; and a nail polish change will cost $5.

"We have several clients that are survivors, it's actualy a really good cause that all of us believe in," Sabo said.

Sabo said the salon will also be selling pink hair extensions throughout the month and t-shirts with pink-scissors on them that say "cutting for cancer." All of the stylists will be wearing the t-shirts on the day of the cut-a-thon.

Those who wish to donate but will not be able to make it to the salon in October can make a check out to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation on behalf of Tress Chic.
