Winning a brand new car from Route 23 Automall may be a little more difficult this year as the AP Challenge competition has been opened up to West Milford High School.
This year is the second that the Butler car dealership will be sponsoring the competition, which has students who receive a 3 or better on the AP exam entered into a drawing to win a brand new car, laptop computer or other prize. All of the eligible students from participating school districts, which include Kinnelon, Butler, Pompton Lakes, Pequannock and now West Milford, according to Suburban Trends, receive a key for each passed AP exam during an event hosted at the dealership.
One of the keys will unlock the new car's door and the student who holds it will be the winner. Last year's winner was a Pompton Lakes student.
Route 23 Automall Vice President Mark Mickens, a Butler High School graduate, had heard about the program being done in other parts of the country and decided to bring the AP Challenge to the local area.
