Culinary Graduate Bakes Organic Breads and Cookies

Janet Picarelli said no chemicals or additives are used in her baked goods.

The Butler Marketplace comes to town with fresh produce and baked goods the second Saturday of each month. Among the vendors are farmers who use local produce to make products. For the next few weeks, we will highlight some local farmers whose crops and creations are for sale at the marketplace.

  • Name: Janet Picarelli is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan, and the owner of Janet’s Quality Baked Goods.“Several years ago, when my daughter went to college, I decided I wanted to do something for ‘mom,’ and I enrolled in school and I have been doing it for the past seven years.” Picarelli is based in Florida, NY.
  • Products:  The baker features seasonal cookies and a variety of breads, including challahs, sourdough, whole wheat, rye, raisin breads, scones and other fresh-baked breads and cookies.
  • What’s Unique: “All of my breads are naturally made,” explained Picarelli. “There are no chemicals or additives in them.” Picarelli also makes her own yeast and uses organic ingredients. Whenever possible, she uses locally grown flour, honey and eggs.
  • Why The Butler Marketplace: “I think it’s a good avenue as someone who uses herbal honey, eggs, and fruit,” said Picarelli. “I think it was a good connection to be connected to the producers of the grain, as well as the vegetables, I use in my products.” Picarelli sells breads and other baked goods at six different markets in New York and New Jersey.
