Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:
Donuts are 95 cents and you can get a dozen for $10.
Given the name, I had my mind set on a donut and tried the apple crumb variety, which came recommended by Del Plato himself. The first thing I noticed was the satisfying ratio of filling to dough. It also was surprisingly not messy, with the crumbs and filling holding together quite nicely.
But what stood out to me most was the sweetness. With a name like Donut Dugout, I was expecting an exceptional donut and this did not disappoint.
The shop, which has counter seating and some tables, is open from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
