Pizza King Offers Discounted Pies, Perfect Crust
Pizza King was this week's stop on our Best Pizza of the tri-boro tour.
At first, Pizza King wasn't even on on our Best Pizza of the Tri-boro Tour-not because we didn't like it, but because we didn't know it existed.
Located on Route 23 North in Butler, near the , Pizza King is owned by the family that also owns and operates , in Bloomingdale. One of the most appealing things about Pizza King, and any pizza place really, is that on certain days, you can get a really cheap cheese pizza. On Monday and Tuesday, a large pie is only $6, whereas it is regularly $11.50, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays it is $7.77 (all the sevens are for luck, Owner Joseph Pagliarulo said).
But that's not all that's special about Pizza King.

"We put a lot of care in our pizza. We take a lot of pride in our pizza and we want all the best for our pizza for people to enjoy it," Pagliarulo said.
A few weeks ago, we brought you a review of and introduced you to a slice called Grandma's Pizza. Pagliarulo said Grandma's Pizza originated at Pizza King with his own Grandma Nonna.

"I can say that ours was the original," he said.
Pagliarulo said Grandma Nonna gave him the idea of crushing the tomatoes by hand, and that every slice of Pizza King's Grandma's Pizza is made with hand-crushed tomatoes and homemade fresh mozzarella cheese.
We just ordered a plain cheese pizza when we went to taste it Wednesday. Check out our video reviews.
