Which Chatham Store Gets Your Small Business Saturday Support?

Give some love to your favorite Mom-and-Pop store in the Chathams.

Let's face it: There are a lot of big, big businesses out there.

And, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Many of these large businesses provide us with some of our most needed services. Many of them employ our friends, our neighbors, our families–and, for that, we are grateful.

Still, there is something about a small business on Main Street, the local place, the place where everyone recognizes your face. You know more of the money you spend there has a better chance of staying in your community. Not only do these places employ your friends, your neighbors, your families, a lot of these businesses are owned by them. Whatever your reason, there is something special about small business.

Planning Boards in Chatham Borough and Chatham Township have worked to keep large businesses out of the area. Most storefronts in town house independent businesses, from Mom-and-Pop restaurants and cafes to locally-owned clothing and decor shops.

Besides supporting locally-owned business, shopping at small local businesses also gives you the chance to buy a unique gift this holiday season, rather than something found at a big chain store. has decanters shaped like owls, and sell clothes that aren't found at department stores, and and have furniture and remodeling tools to add some pop to the house before your relatives arrive.

After Black Friday comes "Small Business Saturday." Where will you patronize? What business gets your money and time and, hopefully, a "thank you" for being a part of this varied and colorful Morristown canvas?

Let us know your favorite local businesses in the comments section. Call it Patch's love letter to our small businesses, signed by all of you. Chime in below.
