5 Things: How to Register Your Kids for Kindergarten

What you need to bring and where you need to go.

The time is almost here to register your children for kindergarten in and and the school districts have prepared in advance with planned registration dates. 

Here are five things you need to know about registration.

  1. You need to know how old your child should be for kindergarten: Kindergarten is open to children who will be five years old on or before Oct. 1.
  2. You need to know what you need to register your child for kindergarten: You will need to bring your child's original birth certificate, proof of residency and immunization records when reigstering your child. In Kinnelon, proof of residency is not needed if your child has a sibling in the district but the Butler school district requires two forms of proof of residency.
  3. You need to know what proof of residency includes: According to the , the first form of proof can include a lease agreement, tax bill or contract for a home while thse second form can include a driver's license, utility bill or voter registration card.
  4. You need to know when to register your kindergartener for Kiel School: will be holding registration periods on Feb. 7 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.; Feb. 8 from 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.; and have a make-up date on March 14 from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.
  5. You need to know when to register your kindergartener for Aaron Decker School: Aaron Decker is holding registration on March 6, March 7 and March 8.
