9/11 Will Be Remembered in Tri-Boro Schools, Memorial Event

The tri-boro will commemorate 11 years since the World Trade Center attacks throughout the day and evening Tuesday.

Schools will teach children the meaning of the anniversary and honor those who lost their lives on 9/11.

In , teachers will be discussing the event in classes at , Principal Dr. Wayne Merckling said. All students will be observing a moment of silence and the names of alumni who lost their lives will be read aloud. Three

At the in Bloomingdale, Principal Frank Verducci said students will be participating in a special project in social studies classes. 

"The fifth and sixth grade students will be writing letters, poems, songs and posters to thank the first responders of 9/11," Verducci said.

The writings of the students will then be sent to a fire department in New York City.

Tuesday evening, tri-boro communities will come together as the Boroughs of and host the . Participants will walk, carrying glowsticks, from Bloomingdale Borough Hall on Hamburg Turnpike to the Butler Park where a memorial service will be held. The event begins at 7 p.m.
