Kinnelon police responded to the Kinnelon Estates neighborhood this week where a bear and her cubs walked near children waiting for the bus. One of the residents of the neighborhood said the bears have been "wreaking havoc" in the area for weeks.

Homemade Knife Found on 14-Year-Old After School Fight

A 14-year-old Kinnelon High School student was arrested Thursday after he was allegedly involved in a fight that sent a 17-year-old to the hospital. After the fight was broken up, police said they found a homemade knife in his possesion.

Kinnelon Teachers' Contract Negotiations Continue

One resident expressed her concern that the Kinnelon Board of Education and Kinnelon Education Association have still not settled a contract at Thursday's board of education meeting.

The Kinnelon Council continued to discuss the possibility of constructing an artificial turf field on borough property last week, with the mayor announcing that state legislators will be introducing a bill that may help.

Butler Public Schools Superintendent Mario Cardinale said the district is not planning to ask the public to support referendums for two capital projects because of the current economic climate. The projects are on hold for now, but Cardinale said the district is planning for them, should funding become available.

Sweet Shop Opens on Bloomingdale Main Street

Candy Shack opened in Bloomingdale this week, bringing various types of candies, both American-made and international, to the borough.
