Bloomingdale Police Implement Proactive Patrol Program

Department working with residents to address their needs as part of new Street of the Week program.

The Bloomingdale Police Department has implemented a program to increase patrols in neighborhoods identified by residents.

The Street of the Week program involves “proactive community policing” the department states on the letter on the borough website. (A copy of the letter and a complaint form have been attached to this article.)

A representative from the police department could not be reached for comment.

Residents can address problems occurring on a specific Bloomingdale street via a complaint form. Police will then review the complaint and assign an officer to prepare an action plan for each street chosen.

Topics can include, but are not limited to, suspicious activity, animal abuse, and ordinance violatons.

Police officers will patrol streets “frequently” that are selected. Issues are concerns police observe will be documents and forwarded to the appropriate officers for review.

Officers will “emphasize a high profile mobile and interactive approach to the selected area, the form states.

Complaint forms are available at the Bloomingdale Police Station, 101 Hamburg Turnpike. They will be placed on the department’s website soon.
