Bloomingdale Volunteer Competing for National Miss Title

Damiano to travel to Atlanta with thousands of other contestants.

This summer, Stephanie Damiano, a volunteer and freshman at Montclair State University, will compete for the national title of USA National Miss, as well as thousands of dollars in college scholarship money.

Along with outstanding young women from across the United States, Damiano, who is the reigning USA National Miss will travel to Atlanta, GA for the highly anticipated USA National Miss Scholarship Pageant. Representing the state, Damiano will compete in evening gown, interview and a runway fashion show event in order to claim the honor of being crowned the national winner.

By way of background, Damiano began performing at the age of 3. She was a member of the Dance Arts Academy Rising Star Dance Company and her training includes NJ School of Ballet, USTD, BGA and Team Rave Dance Teams.  She has participated in numerous competitions throughout the country and has won many awards in addition to winning third Overall Senior Soloist at her last nationals in Orlando, Florida.

Over the past 16 years, she has had the opportunity to perform at Radio City Musical Hall, Madison Square Garden, Six Flags Great Adventure and the Land Shark Stadium in Miami Florida where she performed in the 2010 Orange Bowl halftime show with Kool and the Gang. Throughout her younger years, Damiano has engaged in piano, acting and voice lessons. She has performed in numerous community theatre plays before landing the principal role in the Smiling Rhino production of Alice in Wonderland.

In addition to performing, Damiano earned her Girl Scout Silver Award and has always been an honor roll student. Upon entering high school, she was Student of the Month and captain of her Freshman Football Cheering Squad. Her volunteer work includes student teaching at Dance Arts Academy, assisting the director at Holy Spirit School Kiddie Camp and entertaining the elderly at The Bloomingdale Senior Center and The Atrium. Most recently Stephanie was named Miss American Coed Pageant First Runner Up, Talent, Academic and Miss Congeniality Winner, East Coast USA Pageant Grand Supreme Print Model.  Currently, she is a spokesmodel for All Natural Skin Care and walked the runway during the 2011 NJ Fashion Week for designer Elena Vasilevsky.

USA National Miss provides young women ages 4 to 24 with the opportunity to combine their love of pageantry with other optional elements to custom design their pageant experience – whether their focus is on fashion and modeling, or talent, education, community service, and mentorship. Awarding six prestigious national titles, USA National Miss will award thousands in scholarship money to each national winner, as well as a growing prize package compliments of national sponsors. Delegates can also earn titles, crowns and prizes in optional competitions in areas of interest to them including academics, community service and talent.

“USA National Miss combines all the beauty and excitement of pageantry with the glamour and energy of a runway fashion show – while recognizing the personal achievement, community involvement and academic excellence of  young women all across the USA,” said USA National Miss Director Jackie Watson. “Our program is designed to award young women for their accomplishments, and to mentor them to reach their goals and unleash their true potential."
