Butler Housing Vacancies Increase

The borough's housing vacancies more than doubled over the past ten years.

Housing vacancies in the have more than doubled since 2000, according to new information provided by the Thursday.

According to the Census data, the number of vacant housing units in the borough has gone from 55 to 138 since 2000. Both the homeowner and rental vacancy rate percentages have also increased over the past ten years.

Census data also showed the borough's Chinese population to have nearly doubled (from 22 residents to 42), and Japanese population to have increased. Butler's Hispanic or Latino population has also more than doubled, from 379 to 860 residents.
